Response to the Netflix Film “Pray Away”

CHANGED is a grassroots network of people who have left LGBTQ behind. Those who voluntarily choose to join us share the desire to live authentically consistent with our faith. We believe in allowing all people who identify as LGBTQ to pursue their individual life goals, including the option to seek compassionate, change-allowing approaches consistent with their desires and faith.

Many of us at CHANGED have experienced the pain and hurt portrayed in this film, so we are committed to protecting only safe pathways for those seeking to follow their faith wholeheartedly, including honoring an orthodox biblical sexual ethic. We reject the use of any forms of physical violence, force, manipulation, shame, or humiliation. Such methods are harmful, abusive, and unethical. For us, Christian community is a hope-filled, empowering, and fulfilling family in which we are cherished and truly belong.

We invite anyone seeking a true and accurate understanding of CHANGED to go beyond the claims we believe are presented in the film by reading or watching online some of the thousands of testimonies of thriving and hope-filled individuals who have followed their faith away from LGBTQ through discipleship, support, encouragement and counseling.
