I was molested as a six-year-old, and again at age 10.  I was bullied a lot and got beaten up.  By the time I was in junior high, everyone was calling me gay, and I believed it.  I was deeply depressed by eighth grade and had an older guy tell me he wanted to “show me the ropes” of the homosexual community.

For the next eight years, I lived in that community and had relationships with a number of very wealthy and powerful men.  I was a boy toy.

I did have a couple of significant gay relationships, but by the end of them, I became very disillusioned.  Then my little brother died, and his death caused me to re-evaluate my life and my beliefs.  For a year and a half, I wrestled with what I believed, and then I gave my life to Jesus.  I told God that if He would change me, I was willing to change.

I began to pursue change through counseling and getting help with emotional healing.  A year and a half later, I met my wife.  We have now been married for 37 years.  We have three children and four grandchildren.

For the first 10 years after I decided I wanted to change, my attraction to men was fading away. These last 15 years, I stopped experiencing same-sex attraction altogether.

Abram Goff

I'm a dreamer, a lover, an idealist, a futurist, a creative, a follower, and a friend. I'm a lot of things we have titles for, but strip it all down to find what's left—who I really am after seasons and years and cities and nations—I'm loved by God and I'm discovering how to live with Him. I'm on a journey that is ambiguous for the nearsighted yet clearly defined in retrospect—becoming fully alive. It's predictably unpredictable to me in the moment but always leads to where I want to be, even before I know where that is. I often share about the process of finding and living the life Jesus has paid for—the abundant life.  Find out more at abramgoff.com
